Project Description
Promenade.AI is an AI-powered walking companion inspired by our experience as Erasmus students in Paris, feeling overwhelmed by the richness of the city. We wanted a passive exploration tool that gently chimes in as you move freely—like wandering with a local friend who really knows the history. Using real GPS data, Promenade.AI detects nearby landmarks, retrieves context from a Quadrant-backed RAG database, generates short, engaging stories with an LLM, and narrates them instantly via ElevenLabs Creative TTS powered by Gemini 2.5 Flash. Users can ask follow-up questions, creating a natural, hands-free conversational tour.
The demo shows a live OpenStreetMap view, narration transcript, and user queries. The system handles proximity, context, and fallbacks, and is lightweight enough for a one-person team, built with Node.js and a Lovable-generated React frontend. We are really excited to continue building Promenade.AI and plan to use it ourselves to explore Paris during our Erasmus, making city wandering richer, spontaneous, and more meaningful.
