Homely: helping families take a load off

Homely is an agentic AI family assistant that talks to you like a person and manages household schedule in the service of busy parents.

Core Problem & Target customer
In 2025, the parenting apps market is $1.5B+ and growing at 12%+ CAGR, reaching $2.8B by 2029 [Sources: Market.us, Tbrc], with family tracking and organization apps seeing 18.4% CAGR [Market.us]. However, no one’s solving the real problem: Parents spend 30 hours weekly on unseen labor linked to the household “mental load” (scheduling, planning, organizing) worth $60K annually [Source: Starglow Media], and existing calendar apps are passive tools that don’t reduce cognitive burden but require even more of parents. Given that most of these tasks are repetitive tasks (e.g. what is it that I’m supposed to put in the lunchbox again?) and scheduling (e.g. how the hell am I going to take my son to the dentist’s and my daughter to soccer?), there’s a clear opportunity in leveraging agentic AI and automation.

Main features

• Screen: built for now as a web-app for demo, but would be mobile companion app.
• AI chat: chat text or voice (whichever’s most convenient)
• Agentic AI: when chatting with the agent, it determines what needs to be shown and simplifies actions to be taken.
• Simple cards / actions: you should only be offered two actions at most, shown key info i care about right now

Design principles: easy-to-use, single-action, simple vocabulary. You should be able to use it before you’ve had your coffee.

Future evolution:

• Freemium model for access to more features (and a family coach/concierge?)
• Available on voice assistance (Google Home, Alexa, Siri)
• Services marketplace to solve even more household logistics headaches (Date night give easy access to babysitter services)
